Career Counseling & Coaching

Career is much more than a vocation but is a reflection of calling and purpose in life. For that reason, I approach career counseling from a narrative framework. While I recognize the value of the data gained in career assessment tools of strengths/interests, I seek to place this data in the context of your life story. Who have been the significant people/heroes/influences in your life ? What experiences have shaped your life—both inspiring, as well as painful? What events in your life have informed you about your unique design (personality)? What are you passionate about, and how do your values shape your daily life? We answer these questions through a combination of assessment tools, supportive conversations, hands-on exercises, & homework/experiments between counseling sessions.

Christian Counseling

If you desire to incorporate your Christian faith into our counseling sessions, I will help you explore your beliefs as they relate to your current challenges. As a Christian, myself, I am happy to walk alongside you and encourage you in your spiritual walk as we combine spiritual insights with professional, therapeutic techniques. I will never preach to you, but seek to apply God's grace and truth to your specific situation. If you are struggling in your faith, I am ready to explore these hard questions with you and welcome you to speak “uncensored” about your thoughts/fears. These doubts are there for a reason, and I count it a privilege to sit with you in the dark and painful places of your heart.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment that works by identifying, mindfully processing, and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation, & a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting works in a similar way to EMDR but is rooted in the therapeutic relationship of the counselor and client. Additionally, the therapist uses a less structured set of steps to work with the client. To learn more, visit www.brainspotting.com.

Walk-and-Talk Therapy

Walk-and Talk Therapy provides the usual benefits of traditional therapy but is enhanced by movement, experiential activities, & the ability to connect with nature. It is ideal for individuals who would like to prioritize both therapy and exercise but who lack the time to do both on a regular basis.
